Using works in video, photography, installation and performance, Maria creates sets in seemingly narrow spaces, as an index for a personal cartography. Attracted by her own memory archive, the artist adopts many objects of desire, like plastic canvasses, flashlights, light bulbs and toys, which turn into visual narratives when gathered together, in a kind of poetic rearrangement.
In the compression and expansion of spaces, symbolic relations with the outer world are enacted in an attempt to track the “source” of her sets. One can see in her work the result of an internal journey in which the artist seeks her own reinvention in the search for access to herself.
